Bankers and IT-specialists seek the ways to make online settlements safer

In overwhelming majority of cases thefts in the course of online settlements occur through the fault of the victims themselves. The deputy head of the security and information protection directorate of the Central Bank of Russia Andre Kurilo has analyzed the practice of cyber attacks on so-called “e-money”.
“About 90% of such attacks are purely technical, connected with vulnerability of hardware equipment. Unfortunately, people behave themselves so that swindlers can do everything they want with their computers and all the rest are the attacks, connected with psychology, when somebody starts sending out the SMS like “Excuse me, pa, I am out of phone cash now” or “Sorry, I put 1000 rubles on your account by mistake”.
The meeting with journalists has taken place within the frames of the inter-bank forum “Informational bank security”, which started in Abzelilovsky region RB on February 13. The forum will last till February 18. This all-Russian conference is held here for already the fourth time and considered the key forum, devoted to development of online bank services, for today.
More than 300 participants from all Russian regions and foreign countries gathered here this time – employees of banks and representatives of law-enforcement and supervisory agencies, IT –specialists and designers of anti-hacker software.
The main goal of the conference is to make e-money and online settlements accessible and comfortable for everybody as well as maximally safe especially in the light of appearance of new online threats.
