More than 9 thousand people took part in Ufa Marathon

On September 13, the Ufa International Marathon, the main running event of the Republic of Bashkortostan, took place in Ufa. More than 9,000 people—residents of Bashkortostan's capital and city guests—started the race. This was the 12th marathon, which was held as part of a two-day festival. Our photojournalist Valery Shakhov presents a photo report from the event.

This year the marathon was held under the motto "My running tradition". The start and finish point was the Dynamo Stadium. The route ran through the city's historic center.

Everyone could choose a distance convenient for them: from a classic 42.2 km marathon and a half-marathon to accessible 10, 5, and 2-kilometer races. The program also included a 4x10.5 km relay race, handbike races, and a 10 km roller marathon.

For the first time, the program included a special inclusive cluster for visually impaired and blind participants over 2 kilometers. Participants could complete this route with specially trained pacers or in pairs with another athlete.

The race also hosted the now-traditional "I run — I help" charity campaign, which, over the years, has raised 28 million rubles in support of Ufa charitable foundations.
