FIBA has lifted all restrictions on Russian basketball players
The International Basketball Federation has decided to lift all previous restrictions on Russian basketball players. The Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Degtyarev, announced this.
It also includes lifting restrictions on coaches, referees, commissioners, and other officials. The participation of Russian national teams in the 2028 Olympics will be discussed at the FIBA Central Board in December of this year.
"I welcome the decision of the FIBA Executive Committee to lift restrictions on our and Belarusian players, coaches, and referees in classic basketball and 3x3 basketball. A good pass for those federations that have not yet made a similar decision," wrote Degtyarev.
In April, the International Basketball Federation lifted restrictions on Russian and Belarusian youth 3x3 national teams at the junior level.
