Athlete from Bashkortostan becomes five-time world champion in koresh
The head of the Buraevsky District administration, Rushan Garayev, announced the victory of Artur Zulkarnaev, a resident of the Buraevsky District of the Republic of Bashkortostan, on his social media page.
"Artur Zulkarnaev, a coach at the Children and Youth Sports School of the Buraevsky District, has become a 5-time world champion in koresh! Congratulations!" the district head wrote. "In total, Artur is a 13-time winner of world championships in belt wrestling and koresh. We are proud!"
The milestone 15th World Koresh Championship and Junior Championship took place from June 25 to 28 in Tatarstan. Over 300 athletes from 32 countries took part in the competitions. A total of 11 sets of medals were awarded at the tournament for men and 10 sets for youth.
