“The Swedish Magician”: ex-Salavat Yulaev hockey player has retired

Former Salavat Yulaev Ufa forward Linus Omark has announced his retirement. The last club in the career of the 39-year-old Swedish forward was the Swedish team Luleå.

Swedish forward Linus Omark moved to Salavat Yulaev in 2015. He immediately became a favorite of Ufa fans. Supporters nicknamed Omark the "Swedish magician" for his beautiful goals and incredible saves for the team.

Before moving to Salavat, Omark played for Dynamo Moscow and Finland's Jokerit. In total, he played 476 league matches, scoring 429 points (124 goals + 305 assists). The hockey player also became a world champion with the Swedish national team (2017) and won two bronze medals at world championships (2009, 2010).

"I promised to win the Gagarin Cup before this season, but we cannot control what is happening in the world right now. I sincerely believe that we would have won the Gagarin Cup. It is sad to say, but all good things come to an end. I am proud that I spent the last five years at a world-class club. From the first day, my family and I were welcomed in Ufa with open arms," Omark said in his farewell after the announcement of the early end to the KHL season in 2020.
