Ufa native Semen Elistratov becomes Russian champion

The short track speed skater won the top award in the 1,500-meter event.

Olympic champion of 2014, Semen Elistratov, continues to show strong results at national competitions. The Ufa-born athlete won a gold medal at the Russian Short Track Speed Skating Championships, held in St. Petersburg. The Bashkortostan athlete claimed first place in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 2:17.868.

Valentin Kobyzev from St. Petersburg finished second, while Maksim Shevelev took third place.
