The Olympic bear from the 1980 Moscow Games will become the mascot of the Russian national team. This was announced by Mikhail Dyagterev, head of the Russian Olympic Committee and Ministry of Sport. According to TASS, the trademark is currently being registered with the Federal Service for Intellectual Property.
"The new unified team mascot is based on one of the most recognizable sports mascots in the history of our country – the Olympic bear," Dyagterev emphasized at the Olympic Assembly.
The head of the Russian Olympic Committee noted that the famous bear will replace the blue one, which "came from who knows where."
"It will be a normal bear, the kind we're used to," Dyagterev emphasized.
