The Russian Speedway Cup was held at a renovated stadium in the city of Salavat. The tournament brought together 16 of the country's strongest racers and 5,000 fans, the city administration reports.
The city's mayor, Marat Zagidullin, noted that the Russian Speedway Cup has become a symbol of the revival of Salavat's glorious sporting traditions.
"The city is experiencing a truly historic moment. After many years, the roar of engines and the whirlwind of the cinder track on Salavat soil once again announce the revival of the legendary speedway. We remember our legendary victories, and we believe that new successes are just around the corner," said Marat Zagidullin.
The winner of the Russian Cup was Pavel Laguta from Balakovo, who scored 13 points. Roman Lakhbaum from Mega-Lada climbed to the second step of the podium with 12+3 points. Vitaly Kotlyar from Vostok closed the top three with 12+2 points. Three athletes defended the honor of Bashkiria at the competition. Kirill Semavin, a racer from Oktyabrsky, made it into the top ten.
