Bashkortostan has been granted the right to host the All-Russian Spartakiad of the strongest in summer sports in 2026. This was announced today at an operational meeting of the government by the Deputy Prime Minister of the republic, Minister of Sports Ruslan Khabibov.
Of the 43 sports represented at the Spartakiad, the region will host eight - wrestling, fencing, canoe slalom, cycling, swimming (open water), triathlon, softball, and baseball.
Ruslan Khabibov added that, according to the decision of the Russian Ministry of Sports, it is planned to hold either the opening or closing of the Spartakiad.
"This is a very high assessment of the Republic of Bashkortostan, we will prepare ourselves well to host these main sports competitions in 2026," Ruslan Khabibov noted.
In addition, according to Ruslan Khabibov, the issue of holding the next All-Russian Spartakiad of the Strongest in Winter Sports in Ufa at the beginning of 2028 is currently being considered.
"The capital of Bashkortostan can become the main starting point for the most important sporting event of the season, where the best athletes of the country will gather," Ruslan Khabibov added.
