Paralympic table tennis player Yevgeny Ryazantsev from Ufa has won a gold medal at the Kostanay Region Cup in Kazakhstan. According to the Republic’s Ministry of Sports, the tournament was held in honor of the international master of sports, Duisengali Ospanov.
The para table tennis competition brought together 18 teams and 52 athletes. Yevgeny Ryazantsev took first place in the individual event among players in classes 1–2.
Ryazantsev is a medalist of the European Championship and a multiple-time Russian champion. This was his fourth time participating in the tournament.
“Duisengali Ospanov is doing something truly meaningful. The organizers reached out to guys and girls who are often confined within four walls and invited them out into the world. Just look how happy they are. If you’re given a chance to live, you must live in spite of your fate,” Ryazantsev said.
Earlier, Bashinform reported that Bashkir cyclist Darina Volkova took second place at a national tournament.
