Ufa’s Salavat Yulaev lost to Lokomotiv in second semifinal match

In the second game of the playoff semifinals, Ufa’s Salavat Yulaev lost to Lokomotiv with a score of 1:2. The match took place in Yaroslavl.

Early in the game, Salavat Yulaev earned a power play but failed to capitalize on the opportunity. A promising chance came from forward Josh Leivo, who returned to the lineup after missing three games. Midway through the period, it was Lokomotiv’s turn on the power play, but goaltender Semyon Vyazovoy was safe. In the 15th minute, Lokomotiv opened the scoring at even strength, with Daniil Tesanov finding the back of the net.

In the second period, Lokomotiv took control, helped by two penalties against Salavat Yulaev. Alexander Khmelevsky had a great chance to score, but couldn’t beat the goalie. Although Lokomotiv didn’t convert on the power play, they struck again at even strength. After a shot from Nikita Cherepanov, the puck rebounded to Maxim Shalunov, who slotted it into the net.

At the start of the third period, Egor Suchkov sent a cross-ice pass that deflected into Lokomotiv’s own goal. Salavat Yulaev significantly stepped up their game in the final 20 minutes, creating numerous chances. Denis Yan came close to equalizing, but the Lokomotiv goaltender made a solid save. In the final minutes, Ufa’s coaching staff pulled the goalie in favor of a sixth skater. During a sustained offensive push, Josh Leivo hit the crossbar—so close, yet the final score remained 1:2.

The playoff series is now tied 1–1.
