Mikhail Mishustin signed order on student sports

The Russian government approved an intersectoral program for developing student sports until 2030. The corresponding order, upon approval, was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The measure is aimed at strengthening the role of student sports in the country's sports training system, forming a multi-level system of physical education and sports events for students, and developing human resources.

As follows from the document, to further develop the student sports system in universities, it is planned to continue creating sports clubs, national teams, and student sports development centers. In addition, the document notes the need to develop student leagues for new sports and to improve their efficiency.

The program offers around 40 different events. From the fourth quarter of 2025, the Russian Student Sports Union, together with federal agencies and regions, will monitor the development of student sports. The report will be submitted to the Ministry of Sports on an annual basis.

One of the program's results should be an increase in the number of students regularly involved in sports. In addition, by 2030, 1,500 teachers and other university staff will need to undergo training in additional professional programs related to student sports development. In 2025, 200 specialists will undergo such training.

"The implementation of the program will contribute to improving health, harmonious spiritual and moral education of young people, which is also determined by the national goals set by the President," said Mikhail Mishustin.

The work is being carried out within the framework of the Russian Federation's Strategy for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports up to 2030.
