Checkers player from Bashkiria won silver at Russian championship
Sofia Stepanova, from Ishimbay, won a silver medal at the Russian checkers championship in Yaroslavl. According to the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Sofia distinguished herself in Russian checkers among girls under 17. She won six games and drew three times, scoring 15 points.
Sofia Stepanova, a student at the Ishimbay checkers school, recently became the European and world champion among girls under 14. In 2024, she won a complete set of medals at the world championship in Russian checkers in Turkey.
