Ufa to host Russian Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship
The Russian Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship for juniors under 21 will be held in Ufa from March 5 to 9. As reported by Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Bashkortostan—Minister of Sports Ruslan Khabibov in his Telegram channel, the initiative was put forward by the Russian Wrestling Federation.
“The head of the republic, Radiy Khabirov, supported this idea. We discussed some organizational issues with representatives of the regional wrestling federation and the coaching staff of the Russian junior team. We plan to hold the competition in our Wrestling Palace,” said Ruslan Khabibov.
The Ufa Wrestling Palace opened in August 2024 for the 450th anniversary of the republic’s capital. The unique sports facility has already become the venue for three international forums: “Russia – a Sports Power,” the 20th Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, and the Yalta International Economic Forum. The Wrestling Palace hosted the Belt Wrestling World Cup and the All-Russian Kuresh Tournament in Memory of Artur Akhmetkhanov.
