Wrestling Palace in Ufa is preparing to welcome its first guests

Five days are left before the Wrestling Palace's opening in Ufa. A large sports facility in Bashkiria, being built for the city's 450th anniversary, will become one of the central venues for international and Russian competitions. The series will open with the international forum "Russia—a Sports Power," which will be held in the republic's capital in October of this year, as well as the Council under the President of Russia for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports.

The construction of the Wrestling Palace began five years ago - in August 2019. Radiy Khabirov gave the start of large-scale construction. The head of the republic laid a time capsule in the foundation of the building with an appeal to future generations.

The total area of ​​the building is 28 thousand square meters. As previously reported by Bashinform, whose correspondent visited the Wrestling Palace, it will house a multi-purpose hall with an arena for 3,400 spectators, a wrestling school with five halls for 18 mats, a hotel for athletes, a conference hall, a medical and rehabilitation center, a spa complex and a swimming pool. Nearby are multi-purpose sports grounds for football, basketball, volleyball, and tennis, as specified by the Bashkortostan Ministry of Sports.

During a press tour of the sports facility, Acting Director of the State Autonomous Institution "Wrestling Palace" Eduard Abdyadilov said that concerts of the highest level will also be held here in addition to competitions.

We will add that last week, builders began installing bas-reliefs depicting two athletes from Ancient Greece above the main entrance groups of the Wrestling Palace. A sculptural ensemble will appear in front of the palace's entrance from Musa Gareyev Street, representing figures of famous athletes depicted performing wrestling techniques. They represent the sports that will be developed in the new Wrestling Palace.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government Marat Khusnullin, who visited Ufa on a working visit on July 19, noted that the Wrestling Palace will become one of the most important sports facilities in the country and the world.

"I am delighted. I believe that this is a world-class facility. I think it will take its rightful place in our country and the world. I am convinced that there are hardly any facilities of this level in the world, and if there are, then they are few and far between. It is a perfect concept, a perfect ideology, and a correct approach. I am especially pleased that it is located in a developing residential area, not in the center. Of course, it could have been built in the center and might have been convenient. The fact that it is located in a residential area will be the center of attraction for the area and the development of architecture, culture, recreation, and sports. This is an excellent solution for indoor and outdoor sports, volleyball, and all playgrounds. And the project itself is wonderful and very worthy. I congratulate Radiy Faritovich, his team, and all the wrestlers. I used to wrestle myself, so I am especially pleased when such projects appear," said Marat Khusnullin, answering a question from a journalist from the Bashinform agency.
