Construction of the Boxing Progress Center will begin in Ufa. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Bashkiria, Andrey Nazarov, speaking with the government's annual report at the 8th meeting of the State Assembly of the seventh convocation. The foundation stone for constructing a new large-scale sports facility will be laid shortly.
“In two weeks, as part of the Boxing Evening, we will lay the foundation for the future Boxing Progress Center. Similar ones exist only in Moscow and St. Petersburg. However, our center will become the largest in Russia. Its area will be about 12 thousand square meters,” said Andrey Nazarov.
The Prime Minister, speaking to deputies, noted that the pace of construction of sports infrastructure in the republic has increased by a third. Over the past five years, 1,400 objects have been built in the region. As the Bashinform News Agency previously reported, Bashkiria ranks third in the country in terms of its number.
“In addition, for the first time in 30 years, we launched a program to overhaul sports facilities. This year, we must introduce the largest sports facilities in the republic's modern history,” Andrey Nazarov emphasized.
Boxing is popular in Bashkiria. Today, more than 4 thousand people practice this sport in the republic.
The history of boxing in Bashkiria began in 1920 with the first section, created by wrestler Nikolai Soloviev. The formation was complex, and the situation was aggravated by the fact that boxing was recognized as a “bourgeois sport.” Public discussion allowed him to be rehabilitated in the second half of the 1920s. After the Great Patriotic War, the state prioritized physical education and sports.
