Bashkortostan pankration team won 66 medals at Volga Federal District championship
The Bashkortostan pankration team won 66 medals of various denominations and won the team event of the championship and the Volga Federal District championship. The Minister of Sports of the Republic, Ruslan Khabibov, spoke about the victory of the Bashkir athletes.
“In total, our guys have 24 gold, 16 silver and 26 bronze medals. Thanks to excellent performances, 66 athletes were selected and will represent our republic at the Russian Championship,” Ruslan Khabibov posted on his Telegram channel.
The district pankration tournament took place in Orenburg. More than 400 athletes from all over the Volga region came to the competition.
Earlier, the Bashinform news agency reported that Ilya Kandalin, an athlete from Bashkiria, was the early winner of the Russian Greco-Roman wrestling championship in Vladivostok.
