23 athletes from Ufa participating in International Summer Deaf Games

The two Russian teams participating in the first International Summer Deaf Games, “We are Together. Sport”, included 23 athletes from Ufa. The head of the Department announced this for physical culture and sports of the Ufa administration Yegor Sorokin during a meeting in the capital's mayor's office.

Yegor Sorokin said that the Russian national team consists of two teams: "Russia-1" and "Russia-2". The first team included 10 Ufa residents, and the second — 13. He added that access to the competition sites is free and invited citizens and guests of the city to cheer for Russian athletes actively.

Recall that the International Summer Deaf Games “We are Together. Sport” began in Ufa on July 23 and will last until August 2. The solemn opening ceremony of the Games took place in the Ufa-Arena Ice Palace.

743 athletes from Brazil, France, Turkey, Spain, the USA, Israel, Kenya, the Philippines, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, and other countries arrived in Ufa. The Russian team, which includes 495 athletes, became the largest. Numerous and the delegation from Belarus - consists of 162 people. The team of Kazakhstan has 70 athletes, the same number as the delegation of Uzbekistan. Iran has 69 athletes, and Iraq - has 60. A large team (41 athletes) arrived from Kenya.

Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov at the opening of the first International Summer Deaf Games “We are Together. Sports” noted that major sports competitions attract people to sports, especially children. The Head of the Republic informed the Bashinform News Agency's correspondent.

The Minister of Sports of Russia, Oleg Matytsin, who took part in the opening ceremony of the Games, expressed gratitude to the Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov, the government of the republic, and the sports community of the region for their professionalism, openness, kindness, and respect for the traditions, culture, and sports of Russia.

Oleg Matytsin, in response to a question from the Bashinform News Agency correspondent, said that Bashkiria and its capital Ufa have repeatedly hosted major international competitions in many sports. And according to him, they were distinguished by a high level of standard and organization.
