First Summer Deaf Games “We are Together. Sport" started in Ufa

The 1st Summer Deaf Games, "We are Together. Sport," started in Ufa on July 23. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Russian Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin greeted participants of international competitions in the Bashkir capital.

"The competition "We are Together. Sport" has become a large-scale sports movement involving thousands of athletes from Russia and foreign countries. The Summer Deaf Games in Ufa will become part of this vibrant movement. We have big events ahead of us. I express my gratitude to the government of Bashkortostan and, personally, Radiy Khabirov for their close attention to sports development. The region has rich cultural and sporting traditions and a modern infrastructure capable of hosting tournaments of the highest level. I wish the athletes good luck, success, and bright performances!" Dmitry Chernyshenko said.

The Games will be held from July 23 to August 2. The competition program includes 21 sports: badminton, basketball, bowling, mountain biking, road cycling, volleyball, beach volleyball, freestyle wrestling, handball, Greco-Roman wrestling, judo, karate, athletics, table tennis, swimming, shooting, sambo, orienteering, tennis, taekwondo, football.

Delegations from 30 countries, including the USA, Brazil, France, Turkey, Spain, Israel, Kenya, Philippines, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, and others, have confirmed their participation in the Games.
