

At the XXVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov and the President of the Russian Judo Federation, Sergey Soloveichik, signed an agreement between the government of the republic and the Russian Judo Federation on cooperation and development of this sport in the region.
The document provides for an increase in the number of people practicing judo in Bashkortostan, improving the sports results of athletes in this sport, improving the qualifications of judo coaches and instructors, developing the material and technical base, and holding official sports competitions with the participation of foreign athletes.
Judo in Bashkortostan as a sport appeared thanks to Nikolai Danilovich Popov in the late 60s and is the primary sport for the region.
Judo is cultivated in 29 cities and districts of the republic, and in 12 municipal sports schools and sports schools of the Olympic reserve, there are departments for the sport of "judo", with more than 4,000 people involved.
The coaching staff working with the national team of the republic includes 79 specialists.
