The Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, signed the document, the Minister of Sports of Russia, Oleg Matytsin, and the President of the All-Russian Public Organization of the Disabled "All-Russian Sports Federation of the Sports of the Deaf" Dmitry Rebrov. The Summer Deaf Games will be held in Ufa from July 23 to August 2.
“It is a great honor for Bashkortostan to host such an important and high-status game. We will do everything necessary to create all conditions for athletes and guests to hold a wonderful sports festival,” said Radiy Khabirov.
Dmitry Rebrov noted that the Russian Summer Deaf Games would have the opportunity to compete in a fair fight with colleagues from foreign countries.
“Holding the Games will give impetus to developing the Deaf Games movement worldwide. I want to thank the Ministry of Sports and the leadership of Bashkortostan for the comprehensive support of our sports and the holding of the Summer Games in Ufa,” the President of the Federation of Deaf Sports said.
Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin stressed that Bashkortostan pays excellent attention to sports development in all its aspects.
“The кepublic is our reliable and active partner, and I am sure the Summer Deaf Games will be held in Ufa with great success. Sport is not only medals; it is the formation of a healthy lifestyle, healthy thinking, and a stable developing country. Bashkortostan is a leader in many areas and has great sports traditions. I invite everyone to become members of our big team of winners,” the Minister of Sports of Russia said.
As part of the Games, it is planned to hold competitions in 21 sports for the deaf: badminton, handball, basketball, athletics, table tennis, swimming, cycling - mountain biking, cycling - road, shooting, orienteering, volleyball, karate, taekwondo, football, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, judo, sambo, tennis, beach volleyball, bowling. Competitions will be held at 13 sports facilities in Ufa.
For the entire period of the Summer Deaf Games, natives of Bashkortostan won 50 medals (27 gold, 12 silver, 11 bronze).
