International wheelchair fencing competitions are being held in the Bashkir capital from 10 to 17 May. More than 60 athletes from 13 regions of the country and 12 participants from Belarus participate in them. As it became known to Bashinform News Agency from the press service of the Republican Ministry of Sports, among them are the leading fencers of the country and the world: winners and prize-winners of the Paralympic Games, World and European Championships, as well as winners of international championships. Competitions will be held in individual and team types of the program in fights with swords, rapiers, and sabers.
Wheelchair fencing is a Paralympic sport. It was included in the 1960 Paralympic Summer Games program in Rome (Italy).
