The international chess tournament "Friendship of Peoples" began in Ufa on April 26. Prime Minister of Bashkiria Andrey Nazarov came to the opening of the competition, the government of Bashkiria told the Bashinform News Agency.
“More than 4.5 thousand people from the republic annually participate in various chess tournaments. Among them are eminent athletes and the real pride of Bashkortostan,” said Andrey Nazarov.
The chess school of Bashkiria received a new development with the opening of the professional chess club "Tolpar" in 2011 and is among the top ten regions of Russia. Among the pupils of "Tolpar" are promising chess players Yulia Grigoryeva, Artur Garifullin, Leila Tabermakova, and Kamilla Baiburina, who are members of the Russian team.
“Today's competition proves that Bashkortostan successfully revives and carefully preserves the best chess traditions. In a sharp and tense struggle, you must show true devotion to the game, demonstrate outstanding skill, determination, and the will to win,” Andrey Nazarov wished the tournament participants.
