Salavat Yulaev lost to Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo in shootout

HC Salavat Yulaev played in the first match of the fourth home series of the current Fonbet regular championship of the KHL. Salavat Yulaev on the home ice met with the Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo. The game ended in favor of the guests.

In the first period, Torpedo defender Maxim Fedotov scored a goal in the 24th minute - the score was 0:1. The goal was scored when the hosts played shorthanded -  five minutes before the defender of Salavat Yulaev Alexander Komarov got a penalty for delaying the opponent.

In the second segment of the game, Nizhny Novgorod forward Dennis Yan was sent off the court for holding the opponent's stick. Salavat Yulaev taking advantage of the power play leveled the score. In the 29th minute, Nikolai Kulemin, assisted by Ryan Murphy and Shakir Mukhamadullin, brought the score to 1:1.

The teams didn't score in the third period. After the Torpedo’s time-out, the game continued in overtime. However, the score remained the same. The outcome of the game was decided by the shootout. The match ended with a goal from Nizhny Novgorod defender Bogdan Konyushkov - 1:2.
