USA players continue competing for HC Salavat Yulaev

The American foreign players of Salavat Yulaev Alexander Khmelevsky, Joshua Ho-Sang, and Ryan Murphy continue to play in the team. The general director of the hockey club Rinat Bashirov stated this.

Recall that earlier the United States appealed to its citizens to leave Russia because they could allegedly be drafted into the ranks of the armed forces of the Russian Federation as part of the announced partial mobilization.

“Khmelevsky, Murphy, Ho-Sang in the team. Sasha and Ryan are preparing for the road series, Josh is recovering from his injury. There is no threat to their stay in the Russian Federation. The authorities of the republic guarantee their safety,” Rinat Bashirov wrote on his Telegram channel.

Earlier, the press service of the Kontinental Hockey League said that the information published by the US Embassy concerns people who have citizenship of the Russian Federation, and hockey players playing in the KHL do not have such citizenship.

“14 hockey players playing in the KHL do not have such citizenship, another one, Shane Prince, has citizenship of the USA and Belarus. As for the departure of players abroad due to the risk of being mobilized, this is not a force majeure in labor relations. Accordingly, in such situations, the general rules of the regulation on compensation in connection with the termination of the contract will apply,” the KHL noted.
