Radiy Khabirov and Svetlana Khorkina appreciated possibilities of Artistic Gymnastics Center in Ufa

The construction of the Republican Gymnastics Center in Ufa began in 2019. Today, April 13, the Artistic Gymnastics Center was visited by the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov and Vice-President of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation, two-time Olympic champion Svetlana Khorkina.

During the technical opening of the center, the guests were shown a short video about the construction of a sports facility and the development of this sport in the republic.

The Head of Bashkortostan thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for his close attention to sports and for such a gift that the republic received.

The Head of the Republic wished the young gymnasts new sports victories and success in competitions.

According to Svetlana Khorkina, today Bashkortostan, and indeed the whole of Russia has received a unique center at its disposal.

“Gymnastics is a basic Olympic sport. It is important that our president himself loves sports and supports all of its types. I want to thank the leadership of the republic for their attention not only to gymnastics but also to the development of all sports. I always say that if there is a house, then a family will appear in it. I would like to wish this center to grow real athletes who love our country,” Svetlana Khorkina said.

Radiy Khabirov and Svetlana Khorkina examined the possibilities of the Artistic Gymnastics Center, which, in addition to the training process, can host all-Russian and international competitions. There is a specialized gym with stands for 310 seats, a training gym, a choreography hall, a canteen for 48 seats, medical rooms, a rehabilitation room, showers, and administrative offices. The total area of the building is more than 8.5 thousand square meters. The center also has a four-story hotel for 30 people with a separate entrance. On each floor, there are two double and two triple rooms for athletes who will stay there during competitions and training camps.

The center is a subordinate institution of the Ministry of Sports of Bashkortostan, as well as the home of sports school No. 16, the only budgetary organization in the republic where gymnastics is practiced. According to the plans, there will be sections in rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline sports. In total, more than 700 athletes will train in the center. To date, 568 people are engaged in artistic gymnastics in the republic, who are trained by 27 coaches.

At the end of her visit, Olympic champion Svetlana Khorkina held an autograph session for young gymnasts.
