The Russian Federation intends to file a property claim with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The defendant will be the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). According to the Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin, the calculation of requirements is now organized due to the postponement of the men's world championship.
“There are some financial claims, for example, regarding the volleyball world championship. The country was preparing to host a major tournament, built arenas, hoping, among other things, for a financial reward. Contributions have been paid to the International Federation. In this part, we will demand the return of monetary contributions, as well as compensation for non-material damage. Now the calculation is underway, a lawsuit against the international federation is being prepared for filing, ”the head of the department said on the air of Match TV.
Recall that the World Volleyball Championship was to be held from August 26 to September 11 in ten Russian cities, including Ufa. The tournament was moved to another country due to the situation in Ukraine.
