The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) allowed the 15-year-old Russian figure skater to compete at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. This is stated in the official statement of the court. Thus, the IOC, WADA, and ISU appeals are dismissed.
The CAS information indicates that the decision in the case of Kamila Valieva was made based on her status as a “protected person” since the athlete is under 16 years old.
Recall that on February 8, it became known that Valieva had a positive doping test on December 25. However, this was revealed after the team competition of figure skaters at the Olympics in China. After that date, all tests were negative. The singles Olympics will start on February 15. Kamila Valieva, despite the scandal, trained and prepared for them.
