Skier Alexander Bolshunov brought Russian team first gold at Beijing Olympics
The leader of the Russian men's cross-country skiing team Alexander Bolshunov took first place in the skiathlon at the 2022 Olympics, winning by a huge margin.
On Sunday, at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, the men's skiathlon started - a race in classic and freestyle (2 × 15 km).
Russian Alexander Bolshunov won the skiathlon at the Beijing Olympics on February 6. The skier from the Bryansk region was the fastest at the distance of 30 kilometers with a 44:13.7 result. The 25-year-old Bolshunov became the Olympic champion for the first time. At the 2018 Games, Alexander won three silver medals and one bronze.
Bolshunov's compatriot Denis Spitsov finished second. He lost to Bolshunov a little more than a minute.
The third was Finn Ivo Niskanen, who lost exactly two minutes to Bolshunov.
