The banner of the Russian national team at the opening of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing will be carried by the captain of the men's hockey team Vadim Shipachyov and the silver medalist of the Sochi Olympics world champion in speed skating Olga Fatkulina. In total, about 80 Russian athletes will take part in the ceremony.
"Olga Fatkulina and Vadim Shipachyov are an example of purposefulness and sports character. I think that they are a worthy choice of flag bearers for our team," Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian government, said.
It should be noted that the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers joined the delegation of President Vladimir Putin. Earlier, the Bashinform agency reported that the head of state would take part in the opening of the 2022 Olympics at the Bird's Nest national stadium in the capital of China.
Recall that 14 athletes represent Bashkiria at the Olympics.
