Radiy Khabirov wished good luck to Bashkir athletes at 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing

The Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, wished good luck to the Bashkir athletes at the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

"Soon, we have the Olympics. I really hope that it will take place despite the coronavirus wave. This means that we will have an opportunity to cheer for our native Bashkir athletes, who will go to Beijing as part of the Russian team. It is not yet clear which players will be selected; we are waiting for it. Today I am starting to introduce those athletes who are already in the team for sure, whom we will root for and be proud of their achievements. I wish you all good luck and worthy victories!" Radiy Khabirov posted on his social media.

Today, the country's Olympic team includes: the 2014 Olympic champion in short track Semen Yelistratov, the Olympic champion in skeleton Alexander Tretyakov, biathletes Eduard Latypov and Anton Babikov, bobsledders Rostislav Gaytyukevich and Yulia Belomestnykh.

The Winter Olympics will be held from February 4 to 20. The Russian team took 13th place in the unofficial medal standings at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Korea. The Russian team, which acted as a team of the Russian Olympic Committee,  won 17 medals, including two gold, six silver, and nine bronze ones.
