More than one thousand people have already died from coronavirus in Bashkiria, 814 of them are elderly

According to the emergency operations center, 15 more deaths from COVID-19 were registered in Bashkiria on August 22.

Since the pandemic, 1,014 people have died from the virus, and 814 people aged 60+ have died.

During the day, 300 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded. The total number for the entire period reached 54,939 people.

642 people undergo treatment in hospitals, 403 of them are over 60 years old. Today, 53 of them are severely ill, and one is connected to a lung ventilator. Among the patients in intensive care and in severe condition, there are no vaccinated against the new coronavirus infection.

There are 2,655 people on outpatient treatment, with a mild form of the disease, at the age of 60+ - 1,312 patients.

Over the past day, 491 people were discharged from hospitals with recovery.

The region is actively continuing vaccination against coronavirus infection. To date, 1,381,368 doses of vaccines have been delivered to the republic to prevent a new coronavirus infection.

Currently, 1 111 643 people have been vaccinated with the dose I, vaccination for 927 911 people has been fully completed.

As the Deputy Minister of Health RB Irina Kononova said at a briefing, only about a quarter of the republic's population received the vaccine, which is insufficient for herd immunity development.

"We need to vaccinate 60-80% of the population. Now we are talking about the vaccination of 90% of people over 60 years old. We need to do this very quickly because there has to be a month between the Covid-19 vaccine and the flu vaccine."
