Bashkir athlete will carry flag at Paralympics opening in Tokyo

The opening ceremony of the Paralympics 2020 will take place in Tokyo on August 24. It is scheduled for 4 pm Ufa time. The live broadcast will be available on the Match TV channel. The six-time world champion in track and field athletics Andrei Vdovin and the two-time Paralympic champion in the 1500-meter run, Bashkir athlete Elena Pautova will be flag-bearers of the Russian national team.

Recall that due to WADA sanctions, athletes from Russia will perform under the abbreviation RPC (Russian Paralympic Committee) and under a white flag with the coat of arms of the Russian Paralympic Committee. In honor of the Russians' victories, not the Russian Federation's anthem will sound, but the introduction to concert No. 1 by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

Recall that 241 athletes from 50 regions of the country are included in the Russian national team for the 2020 Paralympics. Bashkiria is represented by 14 participants in four sports - swimming, fencing, athletics, and table tennis.
