First participants of World Wrestling Championships from Philippines were welcomed at Ufa airport

The first foreign participants of the Junior World Wrestling Championships arrived in Ufa. A small delegation of six athletes and two accompanying persons arrived at the capital's airport from the Philippines. According to the President of the United Wrestling Federation of the Philippines and coach of the national team Alvin Aguilar, he and his charges are for the first time in Russia. Upon arrival in Bashkiria, the coach and the trainees tasted the national dishes of chak-chak and kumis and thanked those who met for the warm welcome.

“We are glad to be here. And we hope that we will come back here more than once,” Alvin Aguilar said. “Of course, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were a little afraid of going abroad, but we all got vaccinated and are confident that everything will go well. We hope to win awards in Ufa, as our Philippine athletes showed us an example at the Tokyo Olympics."

Recall that the Junior World Wrestling Championships start in Ufa on August 13. The grand opening is scheduled for August 17. The championships will last until August 23. The capital of Bashkiria will host 1500 participants from 55 countries.
