Stepanova-Baranova duo failed to reach final of Olympics in rowing

Kira Stepanova and Varvara Baranova from Bashkortostan were unable to reach the final of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in the double 500 meters competition.

Russian athletes covered the distance in 1: 42.069 and took seventh place in the second semi-final race. Only the top four teams qualify for the final heat from each semi-final.

Varvara Baranova, a native of the Ulyanovsk region, represents the Republic of Bashkortostan since 2012. She was accepted on the recommendation of coach Konstantin Khudyk, who also moved from the Ulyanovsk region and became a coach in our republic.
