Foil player Adelina Zagidullina became Olympic champion in national team

The Russian women's foil fencing team defeated rivals from France in the final of the team championship. Marta Martyanova, Inna Deriglazova, Larisa Korobeinikova, and Adelina Zagidullina, representing the Bashkir fencing school, won 45:34 and became gold medalists of the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Adelina Zagidullina did not compete in the final of the tournament. In the semifinals, she was replaced by Marta Martyanova, who continued her performance despite her leg injury at the beginning. Reverse substitution in a tournament is not allowed.
The last time Russian foil fencers won gold medals in the team championship was at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Then Svetlana Boyko, Aida Shanaeva, Victoria Nikishina, and Evgenia Lamonova became champions. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Russian foil fencers Deriglazova, Korobeinikova, Shanaeva, and Kamilla Gafurzyanova became silver medalists.
Adelina Zagidullina - Olympic champion, two-time world champion (2016, 2019) and Europe (also 2016, 2019) in the team championship, winner and bronze medalist of the 1st European Games. Honored Master of Sports of Russia.
Adelina was born in Ufa on January 13, 1993. She began her professional sports career on December 24, 2012, with participation in the all-Russian championship, held in the city of Novogorsk, where she took third place at the end of the tournament. Subsequently, the athlete competed in tournaments of various levels. Since 2015, the girl has been a member of the Russian national fencing team.
