Athlete Vitalina Batsarashkina brought the Russian team the first gold medal of the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The 24-year-old Russian woman scored 240.3 points in pneumatic pistol shooting from 10 meters and set an Olympic record. In second place is the Bulgarian Antoaneta Kostadinova (239.4). Bronze went to the Chinese athlete Jiang Zhanxin (218.0).
Earlier, Anastasia Galashina won silver in air rifle shooting from a distance of 10 meters - this award was the first for the Russian athletes at the Olympics. Bronze was awarded to taekwondo athlete Mikhail Artamonov in the weight category up to 58 kg.
Vitalina Batsarashkina is the silver medalist of the 2016 Olympics. The athlete won gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 2018 World Cup and won the 2019 European Games.
The Russian national team in the medal standings shares fourth place with Australia: both teams won one gold, silver, and bronze medals. The team of China is in the first place (three gold and two bronzes), Japan in the second (2-1-0), the USA in the third (1-2-3).
In total, 339 sets of awards in 33 sports will be competed for at the Games.
Recall that five athletes represent Bashkiria at the Tokyo Olympics. These are fencers Adelina Zagidullina and Timur Safin. Slalom athlete Alsu Minazova and rowers in kayaks and canoes, who are competing for Bashkortostan in the parallel standings, Alexander Sergeev and Varvara Baranova were also included in the approved list of the country's Olympic team.
