Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov signed decree on measures to develop draughts

On June 7, the Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, signed a decree on additional measures to develop the draughts sport. In particular, the Head of the Region instructed to develop and approve a program on the draughts movement in the republic, organize an annual "World Draughts Cup" international tournament, and establish a state sports school at the "Central Draughts Club of Bashkortostan".

All municipalities of Bashkiria were recommended to develop and approve their own action plans for the draughts' development.

According to the seven-time world draughts champion Tamara Tansykkuzhina, the decree of the Head of the Republic is timely.

"Draughts is one of the leading mind sports in Bashkortostan. In the light of recent events, we have become generally recognized, both at the federal and international levels," Tamara Tansykkuzhina commented on the issued decree to the Bashinform News Agency. "There are long-term traditions in the region, and they must be used as a foundation."

As noted by the international grandmaster, Bashkiria should hold the "World Cup" and retain a trendsetter status.

"In the future, this can become the basis for holding the World Mind Games in Ufa," Tansykkuzhina believes. According to Tamara Tansykkuzhina, negotiations are already underway in Bashkortostan on the training of draughts trainers and teachers. The program can be implemented at Bashkir State Pedagogical University.
