Chess Vice-Champion Sergey Karjakin will prepare for World Cup in Bashkiria

Chess Vice World-Champion Sergey Karjakin has arrived in the capital of Bashkiria. At the airport, he was met by the deputy of the City Council of Ufa Filyus Ishbulatov, who will accompany the guest to the Gafurisky district, where Karjakin will prepare for international competitions for at least two weeks.

"I am for the first time in Ufa; I came at the invitation of the Chess Federation of Bashkortostan and Filyus Khamitovich personally. I glad to spend a training camp here and meet with children. In the summer, I have a World Cup planned," the BST channel quotes the vice-world champion.

Karjakin's training venue was organized at the Krasnousolsky sanatorium. During his visit, masterclasses with Karjakin will be organized for children.

Sergey Karjakin, at the age of 12 years and 211 days, became the youngest grandmaster in history, included in the Guinness Book of Records. In 2016, he won the Candidates Tournament but lost to the reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen in the match for the world chess champion's title in 2016. Winner of the 2015 FIDE World Cup. World champion in rapid chess (Astana, 2012), world champion in blitz (Doha, 2016), two-time winner of the World Team Championship as part of the Russian team (2013 and 2019).
