Bashkiria athlete won gold at Skeleton World Cup

The representative of Bashkiria, Alexander Tretyakov, won a gold medal at the Skeleton World Cup's final stage in Innsbruck, Austria. The athlete's result after two attempts was 1 minute 45.59 seconds. In the overall standings of the cup competitions, Tretyakov finished fifth, having gained 1171 points.

Recall that in 2010 at the XXI Olympic Games in Vancouver, Alexander Tretyakov won a bronze medal and became the first prize-winner at such competitions among our compatriots. The skeleton racer won the first gold medal in history for Russia at the 2013 World Championships in St. Moritz. In 2014, at the XXII Olympic Games in Sochi, Alexander Tretyakov became the first Russian Olympic champion in the skeleton.

Note that 35-year-old Alexander Tretyakov is a native of Krasnoyarsk. The skeleton racer has been competing for Bashkiria since December 2020.
