Salavat Yulaev lost to Metallurg Magnitogorsk on home ice

Yesterday the Ufa's Salavat Yulaev played their second match in the seventh home series of the KHL regular season 2020/21. The rival of Tomi Lamsa's team was Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

The match against Magnitogorsk became the 300th for Salavat Yulaev goalkeeper Juha Metsola in the Kontinental Hockey League. Metallurg was the first to open the scoring in the match. The guests' forward Sergey Plotnikov scored the puck. Gradually, Tomi Lamsa's team's advantage became more and more obvious, but it failed to create any scoring chances at the net of Koshechkin.

The beginning of the second twenty minutes was won by the guests, who looked more active, and in one of the attacks, Metsola's goal was saved by the bar. Then Larsen threw from the blue line, and the puck was in the net after touching the back of Hartikainen - 1: 1!

Salavat Yulaev started the third game segment more intensely than their rivals, and even in the first five-minute period, they could have taken the lead but were unlucky at the end of the attacks. Another penalty of Salavat Yulaev led to a goal in the Metsola's net. Dennis Rasmussen scored the goal, having capitalized on the powerplay.

At the end of the match, the hosts' coaching staff went all-in and changed the goalkeeper for the sixth field player. However, Metallurg threw the third goal into an empty net. Plotnikov scored the double. The result of the match is 3: 1 in favor of the Magnitogorsk club.

The Ufa club will play the next game at the home arena again. On December 11, the Finnish Jokerit will come to visit Salavat Yulaev.
