Andrey Vasilevsky won Stanley Cup and will now bring it to Ufa

For the first time in history, Andrey Vasilevsky, a trainee of Bashkir ice hockey and the Salavat Yulaev school, won the Stanley Cup. The sixth match of the final series of the NHL main trophy between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Dallas Stars ended in Edmonton early in the morning of September 29. Andrey Vasilevsky did not concede a single goal and helped his team win with a score of 2: 0. The series ended 4-2.

“Vasilevsky Jr. will now go down in history forever as the first Ufa hockey player to win the most prestigious overseas trophy. Previously, Igor Kravchuk had the highest achievement in the Stanley Cup among the trainees of the Salavat Yulaev sports school, who, together with the Chicago Blackhawks, reached the final in the 1991/92 season," the press service of the Salavat Yulaev HC reports.

Together with Andrey Vasilevsky, three more Russians won the Stanley Cup: Alexander Volkov, Nikita Kucherov, and Mikhail Sergachev.

Earlier, in an interview with the Bashinform News Agency, Vasilevsky promised to bring the Stanley Cup to Ufa. Now, two years later, the goalkeeper can confidently deliver on his promise.

Achievements: bronze medalist of the MHL championship (2010/11), bronze medalist of the Junior World Championship (2011), silver medalist of the Youth World Championship (2012), bronze medalist of the Youth World Championship (2013, 2014), bronze medalist of the KHL championship (2013/14), world champion (2014), Stanley Cup finalist (2014/15), bronze medalist of the World Championship (2017), Stanley Cup winner (2019/20).

Player career: Tolpar (2010-2013), Salavat Yulaev (2012-2014), Syracuse Crunch (2014-2016), Tampa Bay Lightning (2014-present).

Awards: Best Rookie of the KHL Season (2013/14), Chevalier of the Order of Honor (2014), Best Goalkeeper of the World Championship (2017).
