Volleyball stage of League of Nations will be held in Ufa in June 2021

The Russian stage of the League of Nations, which was supposed to take place in Ufa in 2020, has shifted to June 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At a meeting with the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, General Secretary of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation Alexander Yaremenko said that the stage of the World Championship, which is scheduled for 2022, was not questioned by either the International or the All-Russian Volleyball Federation.

According to the sports official, volleyball in Russia is gradually coming out of a pause caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The clubs have started to work, pre-season tournaments will be held at the end of August, the regulations of the next national championship have been approved.

Speaking about the development of children and youth sports in the republic, Alexander Yaremenko noted the well-established system of training young players. He highly appreciated the experience of the "Ural" club, which is largely staffed with its own trainees, as well as the "Volleyball in every yard" program.

Radiy Khabirov spoke about plans for the construction of the Ural-Arena volleyball complex in the Kalininsky district of Ufa.

"We have designed the volleyball palace, and we will slowly start building it. It is clear that due to the coronavirus, the deadlines will have to be shifted, but we will build it anyway."

Earlier in Ufa, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the construction of the Sports Wrestling Palace was suspended.

"Amid the coronavirus infection, we are forced to optimize funding for some social facilities and programs, including the improvement and development of public spaces," said Radiy Khabirov in early August during his working trip over Ufa. "We have already suspended one of the large republican construction projects. This is the Sports Wrestling Palace in Ufa - a complex and expensive object, so far we have decided in favor of funding the Center for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, the construction of which will begin this year."
