Cyclists from Bashkiria and Moscow Region tested South Ural bike paths

The results of the Bike Expedition Trans South Ural - 2020 are summed up. The VeloRussia project team covered 1000 kilometers to the most beautiful places in Bashkiria, having traveled all the Southern Urals by bicycles.
The run began on June 2 from the Kropachevo station and ended on June 21 in the city of Kuvandyk, Orenburg Region.
The first part of the journey went along the former narrow-gauge Beloretsk railway. The road offers beautiful views of the main peaks of the Southern Urals: Iremel, Yamantau, and the Kurum rivers. The expedition members propose to make an official cycle route along the embankment.
The second part of the route went from Beloretsk to the Shulgan-Tash Cave through the Arsky stone, the ancient village of Kaga, the center of the Burzyansky district Starosubkhangulovo. On this stretch of the road, there is a good road, developed infrastructure with cafes, hotels, tourist signs, numerous museums.
“The main attraction of the republic, a world attraction is the drawings of the Shulgan-Tash Cave. They are nominees for inclusion in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A modern museum complex and an excellent road are being built here. A hiking trail saturated with interesting objects is already operating in the Shulgan-Tash reserve,” says the founder of the VeloRussia project, bicycle traveler Anton Sazonov.
After Shulgan-Tash, cyclists drove to the Muradymovskoe Gorge and further to the town of Kuvandyk. The southern part of the route was the most “wild” and difficult. At the same time, there are many interesting objects over it.
In total, in Bashkortostan, 13 major cycling routes have been created under the VeloRussia brand aimed at a broad audience of cycling tourists and cycling travelers. This is the first such experience in Russia, bringing Bashkiria to one of the leaders in the development of civilized cycling.
On a trip to the Southern Urals, a member of the Russian Geographical Society, Arthur Laskov from the Moscow region, joined cyclists from Bashkiria.
The VeloRussia project is the creation of bicycle route networks in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation as it already is in European countries. The central idea of the project is to make the longest cycling route in the world through all of Russia, connecting Europe and Asia with a bicycle path, on the border of which the Republic of Bashkortostan is located.
The project was supported by grants from the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Presidential Grants Fund
