Salavat Yulaev returns to Ufa with victory over Avangard in fifth match of playoffs series

After a devastating defeat at the Ufa Arena, the Ufa KHL club took magnificent revenge in Balashikha. Salavat Yulaev demonstrated its true character against Avangard in the fifth match of the league playoff series, beating Omsk with a score of 6: 3.

Rivals played more tight hockey from the first minutes. The home team of the Balashikha Arena was the first to distinguish itself shorthanded. Pavel Dedunov demonstrated space speed and beat the Finnish goalkeeper of Ufa. However, players of Nikolai Tsulygin managed to capitalize on the powerplay with a throw by Peter Khokhryakov. The teams left for the first break with a score of 2: 2 Philip Larsen equalized to the goal by Ville Pokka.

The second twenty-minute period became the key in the fifth confrontation between Salavat Yulaev and Avangard. Vladimir Zharkov sent the puck behind Igor Bobkov from the blue line.

And in the third period Sakari Manninen, Vladislav Kartaev continued a scoring show against the hosts. Peter Khokhryakov made a double - 6: 2. But Omsk still scored a goal in the end. Although Sergei Shumakov’s goal didn’t decide anything, the Avangard indicated its fighting mood for the capital of Bashkiria. The final score of the game is 6: 3. Salavat Yulaev returns home with a third victory on its count and a step away from reaching the second round of the playoffs.

The sixth match of the series will take place at the Ufa Arena on March 11.
