Salavat Yulaev beat Sochi at home and officially entered KHL playoffs
The last home game of HC Salavat Yulaev on the ice of “Ufa-Arena” turned out to be tense and unflinching. The Ufa team hosted the Sochi club, which does not lose hope of getting into the playoffs.
The first 40 minutes were goalless, and offensive opportunities at the net of opponents did not arise quite often. In the last seconds of the second period, Hartikainen was one pace away from hitting a goal.
Nevertheless, Salavat Yulaev managed to strike the net of guests from the southern capital of Russia. In the 50th minute, Alexander Kadeikin hit the net of the Sochi goalkeeper Ilya Proskuryakov in the powerplay.
Wards of Alexander Andrievsky tried to turn the match into overtime but missed another goal into the empty net. Linus Omark was the goalscorer. As a result, Salavat Yulaev won 2-0. Thus, the team of Nikolai Tsulygin officially reached the playoffs.
The Ufa team will continue the regular KHL championship with away games. It will compete with Barys on February 21.
