Ufa residents take part in World Winter Swimming Championships in Slovenia

Four athletes from Ufa take part in the World Winter Swimming Championships in Slovenia. The world championship will last from February 3 to 9 in the city of Bled on the lake of the same name.

According to the head of the Federation of Winter Swimming and Cold Training RB, Alexander Penkin, the republic at the competitions will be represented by the winners of the World Cup held two years ago in Tallinn Rustem Khangildin, Resida Khalikova, Ekaterina Petrenko and Lyudmila Izmailova.

Winter swimming in Ufa has a long tradition; the Federation will soon celebrate its 60th anniversary. The group includes hundreds of people, from young children to the elderly. Ufa winter swimmers have been swimming on Soldier Lake for many years. The water-hole is prepared and organized by the Federation.
