Timur Safin, the Ufa foil fencer, Olympic champion in team competitions became the bronze medalist of the Fencing World Cup, which was held in the German city of Bonn. Together with partners from the Russian national team Kirill Borodachev, Alexei Cheremisinov and Dmitry Zherebchenko, Timur Safin reached the semifinals, having won Ukrainians (55:28) and Chinese (45:41).

After that, the Russian foil fencers lost to the US team (42:45), but defeated them in the small finals (45:40).
