135 thousand people took part in Sporting Events Marathon for five months in Bashkiria

On October 2, Bashinform News Agency held a press conference devoted to the closing of the “Marathon of Sporting Events RB” project.

It started on May 16 at the 2nd Eurasian Martial Arts Games. The symbol of the Marathon - the Cup was handed over at the ceremony to the head of the regional branch of the United Russia political party Rustem Akhmadinurov and vice president of the branch of the Martial Arts Union for Bashkortostan Alexander Sosnin.

The project managed to draw attention to the sporting events of the republic, to intensify sports life and to promote a healthy lifestyle, the organizers say. “Sport is becoming a way of life for each of us,” said Rima Batalova, 13-time Paralympic champion in athletics, at a press conference. Meetings of famous athletes with children took place within the framework of the “Marathon of Sporting Events RB” project.

The largest events with the participation of the Marathon were the “League of Nations” International Volleyball Tournament in Ufa, International Children's Games (ICG), the Russian Run and the Ufa International Marathon, the All-Russian Fencing Tournament for the prizes of Anvar Ibragimov, the Race for the prizes of Rima Batalova in Sharan, the All-Russian Greco-Roman Wrestling Tournament in memory of V. Bormann. Three-time Olympic champion, State Duma deputy Alexander Karelin and Olympic champion, president of the Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili were the guests of the tournament. The multiple Olympic medalist, goalkeeper, president of the Russian Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretyak came to the hockey tournament in Neftekamsk.

The marathon managed to cover several dozen sports. It was held as part of the centenary of the republic, and about 135 thousand people took part in it.
