The Kontinental Hockey League debuted in Shenzhen. On September 3, Kunlun Red Star and Ufa Salavat Yulaev crossed their hockey sticks on Chinese ice. Guests from Bashkiria lost to the hosts in the shootout series with a score of 3: 4. At the same time, the wards of Nikolai Tsulygin were inferior in the course of the meeting 3: 1.

As part of the Ufa club, young hockey players received playing time: Rodion Amirov and Shakir Muhamadullin. Amirov spent 12:29 minutes on ice, made three body-checks and blocked one shot. Muhamadullin's playing time was 3:15 minutes with one blocked shot.

Dmitry Kugryshev scored the first goal for Salavat in the KHL season 2019/2020. Further Teemu Hartikainen and Nikita Soshnikov distinguished themselves. The latter promised the fans to show another play of the team in the return match.

The second match of Salavat Yulaev against Kunlun Red Star will take place on September 4. The beginning is at 4.30 pm Ufa time.
